Lucas is an archivist, artist, film programmer, and writer who grew up living next to a limestone quarry in the Welsh Mountains of Pennsylvania. He is a recent graduate of The L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation and was the recipient of the Film Noir Foundation’s Nancy Mysel Legacy Grant for 2024. Lucas previously earned a B.S. in Film, Video, & Theatre and a minor in English Language & Literature from Stevenson University. Upon graduation, he was presented the Dean’s Award for Exceptional Scholarship (now the Provost’s Award), which is given to a graduating student “who has performed academically in a particularly exceptional way...demonstrated unique intellectual ability and initiative, and...contributed to the academic pursuits of [their] peers.”

Most recently, he volunteered his time as an Archive Technician on Community Voices, a publication commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Camphill Village Kimberton Hills community. His latest international trip was to the car-free island of Lyngør (off the coast of Norway) to create medium and large format photographs with the expert assistance of Ole Brodersen, developed and printed in the photographer’s converted-sail-loft darkroom. His latest freelance gig was as a Casting Assistant for Dina Fiasconaro‘s three-channel video installation “There is No One What Will Take Care of You”—which screened as part of the Opioid Wakes exhibition at Zo Gallery in Baltimore, Maryland.

Lucas previously served as an intern for the George Eastman Museum’s Moving Image Department, a year-round Assistant Manager at The SNF Parkway/Maryland Film Festival, a Programming Associate for the virtual editions of MdFF 2020 and 2021, and a volunteer video clerk at Beyond Video. He is a member of the Irish Arts Center.
